Look, I made a daemon.

Well well well, we’ve been hard at work on all sorts of tech in the old RadiationBurn house, and things are coming along quite nicely. Our crazy cross platform engine design seems to be working out so far, and we’ve had some spectacular images coming out of it (ok, so most of those images should really be on I Get Your Fail, but hey, it’s still early days). Take this gem for example:

Now, to the untrained eye, this might just look like a black mess on a red background, but it’s just that no one has yet invented a graphics card capable of displaying the awesome power of our engine. Either that, or it was a skinned model test that didn’t work, but I’m going to stick with the first explanation…

To be honest though, there’s a lot of groundwork that needs to go into building an engine to power all of our games, especially since we’ve got quite a few different genres and styles planned, so the more time spent on the lower level stuff, the more solid and versatile our tech is going to be. And due to our (some may call it visionary, others just tend to use swear words) descision to use a fully asynchronous modular design for the engine, we’re making sure we get all the basic stuff right before building everything on top of it. Right now it feels like wrestling with one of The Living Dungeon’s Shadows some days; a strange, shapeless being capable of easily destroying us all.

So for now, it’s back to engine coding and trying to avoid being shot in the eye by Nerf guns. That’s right guys, I need my eyes for coding, so stop shooting me! Maybe some kind of goggles… Then I’d look super cool…

OK, for now, it’s back to shopping for goggles, then engine coding. Buh bye, and I’ll be back when we’ve got some screenshots of our engine that are actually worth looking at 🙂
